Biden… mathematically President

Joe Biden, the Democrats’ candidate for president of the United States, seems to have been mathematically elected president on Friday, surpassing the required 270 delegates as election officials in three key states continue to count the final votes in the US presidential race.

In Pennsylvania, considered the most critical state, Biden came close to receiving 20 delegates of the state, jumping ahead of Trump by 7,000 votes, according to the latest updates from Edison Research and Decision Desk HQ.

Biden also took the lead in the state of Georgia in the South, achieving significant success in a traditionally Republican Party stronghold. Georgia’s Secretary of State said he expected a new count due to the razor-cut difference.

President Donald Trump continues to allege fraud without providing evidence, preparing for lawsuits in more states.

Even if the recount reveals that Trump won Georgia, it will not be enough. For Trump to be re-elected, he must not lose any of Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Nevada to Biden.

The Associated Press agency wired that there was a likely recount in Pennsylvania.

US House of Representatives President Nancy Pelosi used the phrase “President-Elect” for Biden at a Friday-called press conference.

Meanwhile, according to CNN, the US Civil Aviation Authority restricted air traffic in the airspace over Joe Biden’s residence and campaign center in Delaware.

Whether Trump will concede remains a mystery, although it is legally unimportant.

Reuters, citing campaign source, wires that Biden is expected to speak to the nation as early as Friday night.

US unemployment decline

Employment growth in the United States was better than expected in October. Even as the US faces pressure on rising coronavirus cases and their resurgent economic recovery, the unemployment rate dropped sharply.

The Department of Labor said in a report released on Friday that non-farm payrolls increased by 638,000 and the unemployment rate was 6.9%. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones expected a non-farm jobs figure of 530,000 and an unemployment rate of 7.7%. The unemployment rate in September was 7.9%.

Employment earnings in October were slightly behind the September figure of 672,000.

EU tariffs on American goods

Brussels is preparing to impose tariffs on US goods worth $ 4 billion next week, following the World Trade Organization’s decision in a dispute over government subsidies to US aircraft manufacturer Boeing, European Union, diplomats said on Friday.

Most EU governments supported the introduction of EU tariffs in response to US tariffs for European goods.
